The challenge now is to provide both short-term shelter and long-term housing, mainly in rural areas but also in ravaged urban centres. The fact that so many of the reinforced concrete buildings are standing and the traditional clay-mortar brick houses crumbled after the earthquakes has bolstered public perception that concrete is good. 2nd tremor halts renovation works: In Chitwan the ongoing repair and renovation works of the Manakamana Temple has been completely halted due to cracks after the second earthquake. Manakamana cable car service has been shut.

Nagakot takes on a deserted look following the massive earthquake: Majority of the hotels and resorts at Nagarkot which lies at the north-eastern border of Bhaktapur and Kavre districts have been leveled by the quakes. Hotel Snowman, Hotel Spa Mountain, Naldum Village Resort, Hotel View Point, Hotel Green Valley, Panorama View and The Fort Resort have turned into rubbles while Hotel Unkai Resort, The Niva Pvt, Hotel Chautari, Club Himalaya among others have also suffered partial damages.

Another heavy earthquake has rocked Nepal: 76 deaths were reported from 11 districts until Tuesday evening and more than 2300 injured. In Dolakha District - the epicenter - alone Police counted 34 dead people. Dolakha and Sindhupalchok districts have been mostly affected. The earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale struck Nepal at 12.50 pm local time. See landslides near Dolakha.

At Sallaghari, Bhaktapur a building collapsed. Most of the houses at Madhyapur Thimi area in Bhaktapur suffered massive damages.
5 storey Kumbheswor temple in Patan had survived the first earthquake, but on Tuesday the top tier fell down too. Near New Buspark in Kathmandu a nine storey building collapsed.
At the Gonggabu area, at least six tall hotels and houses have fallen while dozens of houses have subsided. Om Kar Policlinic collapsed. Hotel Gauri Horaison in Charikot looks badly. @Chitwanchoclate reports, that Araniko bank building, Bhimeshwor Hotel United, hotel Paradise are down in Charikot. In Dolakha, two buildings housing Sangam Hotel, Nepal Bank Limited and Araniko Development Bank collapsed while five people are believed to have been buried under the rubble of Paradise Hotel. Most buildings of hotels including Motherland, United, Cho-Rolpa, Image, Kings and Chilankha are on the verge of collapse. Most buildings in Kathmandu deemed uninhabitable or unsafe following quake. Survey by local engineers indicates: More than three-quarters of the buildings in Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, are uninhabitable or unsafe following the 7.9-magnitude earthquake.
The Nepal government’s slow disaster response has meant that aid hasn’t reached the people. Public anger is growing in Kathmandu and in provincial towns and there is a risk that the frustration will boil over.

Nepal quake: aid finally begins to arrive in remote villages, sent by locals
Hell in the hinterlands: Weena Pun reports from Nibu village in Sindhupalchok. "The houses made of stones and earth, typical in the rural hills, had been flattened".
